Housing benefits

Housing benefit is a scheme to help people with their rent. If you are receiving Income Support / Jobseeker's Allowance (income based) / Pension Credit or on a low income with capital less than £16,000, you may be eligible for housing benefit.

Housing benefit is managed by Lewisham Council. However, Lewisham Homes can assist you by checking if you are eligible and help you complete an application form when you go into arrears or ask for help.

We can also estimate your likely entitlement and tell you the amount you need to pay each week until a Housing Benefit Officer formally assesses your claim.

We will also help you complete a benefits claim form with you when you sign up to a new tenancy.
