However, a number of properties were damaged in the fire, which was caused by a faulty domestic appliance. This is a reminder to all residents to ensure your appliances are checked regularly, as well as insuring the contents of your home, both of which are your responsibility.
Safety tips
- There is no better way of dealing with fire than prevention. You should fit smoke alarms, have an escape route planned.
- Please remember to keep walkways and corridors in communal areas clear of rubbish, prams and other items.
- You should never remove batteries from smoke alarms, these could save your life in a fire, you should test batteries regularly.
- Remember, do not park in restricted areas as this obstructs access to emergency vehicles.
- Do not jam communal fire doors open, these are made to shut automatically to prevent a fire from spreading should it occur.
- If you have young children in your home you should check your windows and balconies to ensure they are safe, and report any problems to us. Residents
should also ensure windows are fitted with restrictors to prevent children falling out of them. Contact Repairs Services.
