Income team help reinstate Housing Benefit claim

Income Officer Florence Okello-Addai guided a vulnerable Lewisham tenant through reclaiming her Housing Benefit entitlement to clear her rent arrears. The tenant, who had learning difficulties, had not responded to contact from Lewisham Homes and Housing Benefit when her entitlement stopped.

Lewisham Homes’ Ms Okello-Addai worked with Lewisham Reach to begin legal proceedings and attended Lambeth County Court in September. As a results Housing Benefit awarded the backdated payment and the tenant is now in credit.
