Lewisham Homes is committed to its value for money strategy and takes every opportunity apply for funding from external sources.
Working with residents we have secured £344,024 since January 2008 for projects which benefitted the borough in a number of ways, ranging from new play areas and a development officer for Residents’ Associations to free training courses for residents.
A large portion of the funding - more than £100,000 - was secured from Lewisham Tenants Fund (LTF). The Fund was formed followed a ballot in 1992, where it was agreed to set aside 13p from every tenant’s rent to fund tenant participation across Lewisham.
Funding allocated from LTF has accelerated resident engagement and consultation within Lewisham Homes. The contribution went towards various activities, including taking residents to the annual Tenant Participation Advisory Service conference in 2008 and 2009.
Other funders include the Mayor’s Playbuilder Fund, Lewisham Council’s youth service and Housing Associations.
Community Involvement Manager Alanna Curd said: “Successful funding bids from the Mayor’s Playbuilder Fund and the local assemblies have been due to our residents identifying a need in their area and working with us to make it happen.”
