In March 2011, we became aware that one of our contractors had lost a data stick with residents’ information on it which was then subsequently handed into the Police.

We investigated the incident at the time and are confident that no personal data was compromised. This contractor was in breach of our Data Protection procedures and as a result of this breach the has now been dismissed.
We want to reassure residents that we take data protection very seriously and have since reviewed and strengthened our data security measures to ensure that information can no longer be transferred to sticks or other portable devices without encryption.
