Lewisham Handyperson a service from Lewisham Council

All residents (whether you rent your property from the Council, housing association, private landlord or own your own home) are eligible to apply.

Is the service for you?

The Handyperson is not an emergency service but we try to give priority to urgent cases. We will always contact you if we need to change
an existing appointment.

We ask for your feedback to ensure you are happy with the service.

It’s easy to arrange and you can rely on them for

• small plumbing repairs

• moving furniture for easier access

• adjustments to doors and windows

• making safe trip hazards

• putting up handrails, grab rails and curtain rails

• fitting and testing smoke alarms and bells

• changing light bulbs.

Unfortunately the Handyperson is unable to carry out decorating, gardening, any kind of gas work, electrical wiring or general domestic tasks.

• The Handyperson is here to help people who can’t get jobs done by anyone else.

• If you are not sure whether we can help, give us a call. We are happy to offer advice.

• If we can help, we will arrange a day and time for the Handyperson to call between Monday and Friday, 9am to 5pm.

• Every Lewisham Handyperson is a council employee, security checked for your peace of mind.

• We can arrange a password on request, to help identify the Handyperson.

• You can call on the Handyperson more than once, if jobs need doing.
