Why do you want to know my details?

We collect customer details so we can understand just who our customers are and provide services to meet their needs (this is sometimes referred to as customer profiling).

The Equality Act 2010 requires us to ensure that we monitor the following ‘protected groups’ to ensure that we do not directly or indirectly discriminate against people from these groups.

  • Age
  • Disability
  • Gender reassignment
  • Marriage and civil partnerships
  • Pregnancy and maternity
  • Race
  • Religion
  • Sex
  • Sexual orientation.

We also collect information on vulnerability, language and communication needs. We collect this information at sign up, through telephone surveys, at open events and sometimes when you contact us.

We wish to collect data on our customers so we can:

  • Understand who our customers are and who makes up the community we serve;
  • Provide services to meet their needs, changing existing services and plugging gaps where they exist;
  • Make sure under represented groups can access the service;
  • Reduce barriers to groups accessing and participating in the service;
  • Understand residents preferred means of communication with us;
  • Understand if they are vulnerable as this may affect their ability to successfully maintain their tenancy; and
  • Check that people who are using our services and are satisfied with our services are in line with the customer base as a whole.
