The aim of the Reading Group is to give residents the opportunity to review public information and publicity produced by Lewisham Homes and provide constructive feedback on how it can be improved.
The group will review format, wording and design of documents in accordance with Lewisham Homes’ Brand Guidelines and Style Guide. Generally, information should be easy to understand and free from jargon, and residents can help us make sure that this is the case.
The Reading Group meets every six months and is made up of Lewisham Homes residents, over the age of 18.
The reading group will be given regular feedback to demonstrate how their views have been taken into account.
The role of a Reading Group member
The role is that of an independent assessor looking at the standard of work produced and helping us ensure that the public information we produce meets its aims.
All resident Reading Group members will be required to give feedback on material produced by Lewisham Homes at least once every two months. Reading Group members can review documents by email or by post. Members will be asked to state their preference when they sign up to the group.
No qualifications are needed to join the Reading Group but a basic level of literacy is required and each member will need to attend a summary Plain English training and general briefing session at the first meeting.
It is not within the remit of the Reading Group to assess, influence or change Lewisham Homes’ policies, procedures or services. We can give you further information about the ways you can get involved in these kinds of activities.
If you would like to become a member of our Reading Group, please contact the Community Involvement team on 020 8613 7660 or getinvolved@lewishamhomes.org.uk.
