Residents’ Business Plan 2012/13

Our Residents' Business Plan (RBP) is into its third year running, with the 2012/13 plan now underway. The RBP is an opportunity for residents to feed into our business planning process and have their say on how housing services are delivered.

On 26 October managers presented back ideas to residents on the priorities that were identified in the survey and launch event in August. Residents had the opportunity to ask questions, discuss the proposals that had been put forward and to challenge managers on how these proposals would be implemented and monitored. Some of the proposals discussed were:

  1. Bin cleaning: putting together a programme for mobile caretakers to carry out jet-washing of bin areas.
  2. Patrols by Police/Wardens: residents will be consulted through the STAR (Survey of Tenants and Residents) survey and rent statements. This service would be dependent on whether residents are willing to pay for it.
  3. Assistance with internal decorations: We proposed to change how the scheme is run to make best use of the budget. We also want to ensure that those most in need are assisted.
  4. Online services: We are looking into making our online services available through Sky or Virgin. Training for residents: We currently provide a range of computing courses which are open to all residents, including basic 'get to know your computer' courses. This programme will continue next year and will include additional courses for over 60s.
  5. Installing door entry systems and CCTV: We have already installed a number of systems as part of the last two RBP's. We are looking into preventing crime by the design of an area through formal surveillance, access to properties, addressing blind spots and landscaping.

The outcomes from the RBP will be communicated to residents early in 2012.
