Resident Scrutiny Committee

A new involvement opportunity for Lewisham Homes where residents look at services in greater detail and make recommendations for improvement.

10 Lewisham Homes residents are part of the Resident Scrutiny Committee and they meet once or twice a month to independently review the services Lewisham Homes provides. They are being closely supported by an independent mentor from the Tenant Participation Advisory Service.

The Committee is currently reviewing the caretaking service. They have been analysing the estate inspection reports and the caretaking standards. From this they have outlined the key areas they want to focus on.

The next stage will be to check what services are like on the ground, with those key areas in mind. Members will meet with focus groups of residents, caretakers, and managers in February and March 2013.They will also shadow caretakers on estates. Following this 'reality check', they will discuss their findings.

The final stage will be to write a report where they will say where they think improvements are needed. This report will be presented to the Lewisham Homes Board who will decide what changes, if any, need to be implemented to improve the caretaking service.

The caretaking review will be completed by April 2013. Following this the Committee will begin a review of another service.
