Most of our new tenants are given an introductory tenancy, which converts to a secure tenancy after one year provided there have been no breaches of the tenancy conditions.
As an introductory tenant, you have less security than a secure tenant.
It is easier for Lewisham Homes to evict an introductory tenant for a breach of their tenancy conditions, for example not paying their rent or for anti-social behaviour. This is because we do not have to persuade a court that it is reasonable to evict you. That decision rests with us.
If there are no problems with your tenancy in your 12 month introductory period, you will automatically become a secure tenant.
You will not need to fill in any more forms, or sign a new tenancy agreement. If you breach the terms of your tenancy, Lewisham Homes may seek to evict you or extend the period of your introductory tenancy.
If you have any further queries about introductory tenancies please contact your local housing office.
