We spoke to Adam Maynard, an apprentice plumber on the 2011/2012 programme, about how he is finding his new role.
What originally attracted you to this role?
I've wanted to be a plumber since leaving secondary school and so far it's been great. I really enjoy working independently but also as part of a team.
How is the apprenticehip programme helping you?
I'm learning new skills every day, such as soldering and installing heating and piping. It's great to work with different plumbers so that I can learn from thir experiences as well.
What are looking forward to in the programme?
I'm really excited to begin working at a more advanced level, developing a wider skills knowledge and also ensuring that the work in residents homes is to a high standard
and finally, what are your plans for the future?
When I finish the apprenticeship I hope to have the skills and knowledge to work in the Plumbing industry. I'd love to own my own business one day and I feel that this scheme will help me to acheive that.
