About tenancy

Your Tenancy Agreement is a legal contract between you and Lewisham Council. It is designed to make sure that you and other tenants are good neighbours and take care of the homes you rent.

As part of your Tenancy Agreement you have a number of responsibilities you must follow.

Your Tenants' Handbook is not a legal document. It is a document that contains useful information about the management and maintenance of your home.

We carry out regular occupancy checks to make sure the right people are living in our properties and to reduce tenancy fraud.

Lewisham Council has installed Integrated Reception Systems (IRS) on all blocks with 12 or more flats.

You may end your tenancy by giving us four weeks notice to quit in writing, or by completing a 'vacation notice' which you must sign.

We will recharge you reasonable costs, including a 15% administration fee and legal costs where applicable, for any damage you have caused to your property or surrounding area.
