We’re pleased to share that the remainder of our playgrounds were reopened earlier this week. They were first locked in March in response to government guidance so that we could keep children safe and discourage people from gathering to help stop the spread of Covid-19.
As restrictions eased we gradually reopened the facilities, with lockable play areas all reopened before the August bank-holiday. Where temporary fencing was installed, it has taken longer than we had programmed to collect it.
Our fencing contractor has been facing staffing and storage problems and let us down on this occasion. We therefore allocated the task to our own workforce opened the remaining play areas on 30 September.
We’d like to thank the Lewisham Mayoresses, Dawn Atkinson, Natasha Ricketts and Christine Norman, who worked with us to ensure we could resolve this issue for our residents.
