Covid-19: an update for our residents

We hope you and your family are keeping well during the Covid-19 pandemic. As our staff continue to work hard to keep all our residents safe and secure, we have a few important updates for you on some of our services.

Key workers

Some of our staff have been designated key workers, including those carrying out cleaning work on our estates. We have reorganised our team to prioritise keeping communal areas and frequently touched points such as intercoms and lifts as clean as possible. This work is helping to keep residents safe and reducing the risk of infection from coronavirus. Staff have been instructed to observe social distancing guidelines at all times and residents should also be doing so. Please help our key workers carry out their important tasks by supporting them during this period.

Refuse collection and Easter arrangements

Lewisham Council’s workers collecting your rubbish and recycling have also been designated as key workers and, with residents spending more time at home, their work is more vital than ever.

Sometimes, the teams haven’t been able to empty the bins because people have blocked access with their cars. Please be considerate, and allow plenty of space for refuse vehicles to get through at any time. Collections may take place on a different day to normal. This is also important for emergency vehicle access to your building.

There will be changes to individual wheelie bin collections from Good Friday (10 April) for two weeks, as follows:

Normal collection day Revised collection day
·         Friday 10 April ·         Saturday 11 April
·         Monday 13 April ·         Tuesday 14 April
·         Tuesday 14 April ·         Wednesday 15 April
·         Wednesday 15 April ·         Thursday 16 April
·         Thursday 16 April ·         Friday 17 April
·         Friday 17 April ·         Saturday 18 April

Please make sure your bins are out for collection on your revised collection day. Usual service will resume the week beginning Monday 20 April.

Our services over the Easter bank holiday weekend

We will still be providing essential services over the bank holiday weekend such as emergency repairs and cleaning. Our office staff will not be available on Good Friday (10 April) and Easter Monday (13 April), but if you are concerned about food or medicine during this time please visit our website for more information on how to access these services. You can call 0800 028 2 028 to contact our out-of-hours service in an emergency. You will still be able to access rent, service charge and other services via the My Lewisham Homes portal and our website across the Easter weekend.

Lewisham Council is currently relaxing enforcement in the borough, unless it is a public safety risk. Please park sensibly so emergency and key services like refuse collection, bulk collection and cleaning can be completed. There is more information on Lewisham Council’s website here.
