The Evelyn Community Store first opened its doors in February 2019, after months of hard work from resident volunteers such as Evelyn Tenants and Residents Association (TRA), and from support of our Community Relations Team.
Based at the Evelyn community centre in Deptford, the Community Store works on a membership basis.
It offers an alternative to food banks. Members pay £3.50 and receive £30 of food, they can then choose items from the store to ensure it caters to their family needs. Offering a lot more than food, the store has become a hub for providing support and training and community events.
Initially funded by Travis Perkins Managed Services, the store is now funded through donations and store member fees. It is run by local volunteers in partnership with Lewisham Homes.
Email the community relations at getinvolved@lewishamhomes.org.uk if you’re interested in volunteering at the store or would like to donate.
