On Saturday 25 September, a community fire safety fun day was held on the Pepys Estate. It was organised by the London Fire Brigade and the estate tenants’ and residents’ associations (TRAs), with support from the Lewisham Homes community relations and fire safety teams.
The London Fire Brigade brought a fire engine for residents to see up close, and also used the opportunity to consult on the London Fire Plan.
The event included face painting, crafts, live music, food and refreshments and various community information stalls. Lewisham Homes had a stall providing fire and building safety advice, and the fire safety team prepared a fire safety quiz for our residents with brilliant prizes provided by our fire risk assessors Frankham. This included an iPad won by young resident Saara (pictured with her father and Lewisham Homes staff). Our fire detection partner AICO provided goodie bags for all.
Our teams were able to talk to residents about the establishment of our new building safety team, particularly the imminent start of the first dedicated building safety managers.
