Residents were celebrating last week as the first new kitchens and bathrooms were fitted at Hatfield Close and Gerrard House in New Cross, as work to make safe and upgrade the properties continues.
Since 2017, work has been ongoing at the site. Lewisham Homes engaged United Living and Michael Dyson Associates to remove combustible cladding and replace it with a safe alternative, as well as improving the facilities in the buildings in general.
Upgrading kitchens and bathrooms is the latest part of this project and installations are now complete in the first few properties. Many more installations are planned over coming months.
Residents had the opportunity to pick from various colour options for their kitchens and bathrooms to give them a feel all of their own. A resident who was among the first to receive an upgrade declared herself ‘very happy’ with the work.
