Christmas is a time for giving and there are so many ways you can help across Lewisham, both this Christmas and into next year. From projects helping the most vulnerable across the borough to community gardens and digital projects, your spare hours could make all the difference this festive period.
1. Sign up to Lewisham Local and their volunteering bulletin
If you don’t know where to start, one simple step you can take is to sign up to Lewisham Local and their volunteer bulletin. Lewisham Local send out a weekly newsletter with current volunteer opportunities across the borough, so you can find the most relevant for you and your skills. 2. Sign up to help at your local vaccine clinic
Throughout the last year, our local vaccine centres have been stewarded by hundreds of local volunteers. Each vaccine clinic needs around six stewards per session and you too can play your part in the NHS vaccine drive.

3. Help out at the Felix Project
The Felix project, which has taken over from Fareshare locally, takes surplus supermarket food and re-purposes it by sending it out to the many food poverty projects across Lewisham. Felix helps our food projects at Feed the Hill, Evelyn Community store and the new KGEB community store.

4. Keep fit and give back at Lewisham GoodGym
Lewisham GoodGym are a group of local residents who keep fit together and also give back to community projects across the borough. 5. Volunteer at Feed the Hill
Feed the Hill is a food project based in New Cross and Telegraph Hill. They currently provide food packages to vulnerable residents across the area and run a community store with residents on Achilles Street. You can sign up here – email@example.com
6. Help out Lewisham MenCap
Lewisham MenCap do wonderful work with residents in Lewisham who have learning disabilities. They are looking for extra hands this winter to help run various games and activities, lead various fitness or dance sessions, entertain or offer beauty treatments to their service users. The Evelyn Community Store has worked tirelessly for the last two years to feed hundreds of Lewisham Homes families and is currently being run by our amazing three Lewisham Mayoresses.

8. Sign up to volunteer during Borough of Culture

9. Help our residents at KGEB Community Store
KGEB is the newest of our community stores and feeds dozens of families each week in Forest Hill and Sydenham. KGEB need help with their store days and with picking up and dropping off their food deliveries. You can contact Kim Ward to find out more here firstname.lastname@example.org
10. Get people online at Catbytes
Do you have digital skills that you could put to use in the community? Catbytes are a great local charity who need devices, tech savvy volunteers and admin volunteers to run their digital inclusion projects.

11. Get green-fingered at Evelyn Community Garden
We have recently been working with Evelyn estate TRA on the Evelyn Community Garden which we helped secure £7,000 for from the Mayor of London.
