Following a recruitment drive, Lewisham Homes has employed five additional housing officers and a team leader to our Housing and Communities team.
From 4 July 2022, we will be reducing each housing officers ‘patch’ to approximately 700 properties, which will enable housing officers to be more visible and available to residents. A ‘patch’ is the area that a housing officer covers, which could be an estate, or several smaller estates, blocks and street properties.
We currently have 13 housing officers and will be increasing to 18, reducing the patch sizes to around 700-750 homes per officer instead of the current numbers of 1000-1200. We hope this will allow us to build better relationships, provide a better service to our residents and allow our officers to be more visible on their estates. Supporting households where there is a known vulnerability is at the forefront of our thinking in creating these new patches.
We are aligning these patches with caretaking and building safety colleagues to create efficiency and cross departmental working, i.e. estate inspection regimes, and overlaying anti-social behaviour and hoarding case data.
