Our residents’ safety remains our top priority and we are proud to once again pledge our support in Gas Safety Week (13-19 September), now in its eleventh year.
The annual Gas Safety Week sees organisations from across the UK working together to raise awareness of the dangers of poorly maintained gas appliances, which can cause gas leaks, fires, explosions and carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning.
Keeping gas safe
Gas Safety it paramount to safety of our residents at Lewisham Homes throughout the year, and we’d like to remind you what to look out for to ensure you keep gas safe.
Things to be aware of are:
- Natural gas is odourless but the gas transporters add an eggy smell to help identify possible gas escapes. If a gas smell has been reported, this requires urgent attention
- CO gas is odourless but can be life threatening. You can find symptoms for possible CO poisoning here
- A healthy gas flame is blue. If any gas appliance is burning with a yellow flame this is a sign of poor combustion and CO emissions and requires immediate attention
If you notice any of the issues, please call us urgently 0800 028 2 028.
