Under the ‘We Are Lewisham’ banner, the year-long programme is inspired by our borough’s rich history of activism and standing up for equality.
Jointly led by Lewisham Council and the Albany, We Are Lewisham will bring together all of our neighbourhoods, communities and stories. The programme was officially launched on 28 January, and you can keep an eye as more events are added at wearelewisham.com.
Lewisham Homes is also getting involved with the Borough of Culture year. Here are just three highlights – we will be sharing further information about them and so much more throughout the year.
Lewisham Homes Film Festival
This spring, we’ll be screening a range of short films from local young filmmakers as well as films about Lewisham Homes residents and the community projects they’re involved in. There will be a premiere of a short film made by a young Lewisham Homes resident about his family and his estate, followed by a Q&A with the filmmaker himself!
Pirate Radio Show
This summer, thanks to funding from our contractor United Living, we’ll be reviving the storied past of pirate radio stations in Lewisham. Co-produced with residents who were involved in the original Lewisham pirate radio scene, shows will be going out on the airwaves and online, featuring music from local artists, interviews and stories.
Lewisham Homes & Open House
We’re working with Open House London to put together a range of events that celebrate the iconic housing architecture that exists across Lewisham. We’re still sorting out the details but we’re hoping to have walking tours, open buildings and maybe even some film screenings in September.
