Lewisham Youth Conference is a free event for 10-19 year olds designed by young people (because who knows us better than ourselves, right?). The one-day conference, now in its third year, is a character building occasion that enables young people to showcase their unique talents, whether that be singing, dancing, making people laugh and so much more.
Not only will young people have an opportunity to show what they can do, they’ll also have a chance to learn from fellow young people through workshops, discussions and activities. Motivational speakers, such as MP Vicky Foxcroft, will also be there to chat to attendees, and inspire them to make their big dreams a reality.
There will also be knowledge stands providing information about pathways to chosen careers, as well as people offering advice to young people about the issues they’re facing (since we all have them) and how to deal with them in the best way possible.
Laughter, entertainment and meeting new faces has always been a part of LYC, as well as just simply having fun with one another. And back by popular demand, comedian White Yardie will be returning to host the afternoon entertainment.
Elevating Success works with Lewisham Homes and Travis Perkins, its main sponsors, to make all this happen. Through LYC, they are helping to improve and better the lives of young people in Lewisham and beyond.
Lewisham Youth Conference is back at Goldsmiths, University of London on Saturday 23 June, from 11am–5pm.
Tickets are FREE but you must book in advance!
