In 2019 we commissioned Artmongers – a local organisation that creates public art – to produce a mural across the hoardings at our development site at Marnock Road, Brockley.
We worked with the team at Artmongers to develop ideas while involving the local community. Artmongers held workshops with members of the 999 Club (a Deptford-based homelessness charity) and the children of nearby Beecroft Primary School. It was during one of these workshops that somebody spoke about how “every human needs a home,” and this became the central theme of the piece.
If you visit Marnock Road you’ll be able to see the hoardings which were made with lenses that each display different pieces of art created by local children in line with the “every human needs a home” theme. We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone involved in bringing this project to life, and helping to add some colour to our borough.
