We completed the first council housing in Lewisham for nearly 30 years in Spring 2015. The four three-bedroom and two two-bedroom houses at Atlas Mews on the Mercator Estate are now home to six local families.
The new homes are energy efficient and have private family gardens with bike stores, refuse and composting facilities.
New resident, Veronica Mighty, said ‘the home means a lot to me and my young family. Our new home is a 100 percent better for us than where we lived before. The kids love it – – I think we will be very happy living here.’
Mayor of Lewisham Sir Steve Bullock, said ‘It is a real delight to welcome our new residents into the first council housing built in a generation. Housing is one of the most important issues for local people and we will provide 625 new homes, including 500 council homes by 2018, so this is just a start.’
