Forest Estate – Knapdale Close, Forest Hill, SE23

The development at Knapdale Close will provide three 3-bed houses and 14 two and three bed flats, all for social rent, on the site of existing garages and a car parking area.

The plans also include wider improvements for the estate, including landscaping and play space as well as additional car parking and cycle storage.

We have carried out extensive consultation with existing residents, including door-knocking and drop-in events, and listened to their concerns. Replacement parking spaces will be made available before the existing parking spaces are developed.

Lewisham Homes is creating hundreds of new Council homes across the borough in support of the Council’s response to the London-wide housing crisis. In 2012 the Council committed to delivering 500 new Council homes, and these 17 homes are part of that commitment. All 500 homes will be underway by the end of this year, and the partners are now developing plans for a further 1,000 social homes by 2022.

Other works on existing homes, such as improving lighting, are being reviewed as part of our wider planned works programme.

Resident Consultation

You said Our response
We’re concerned about drainage Before work starts, the contractor will do a survey which will be assessed by Thames Water. Thames Water will instruct any work required which will be done as part of the new build work.
Council homes should benefit local people   All of the new flats and houses here will          be council homes for local people.
The increased demand for parking will mean that existing residents will not be able to park Replacement parking spaces will be made available before the existing parking spaces are developed. We’re providing a total of 34 new parking spaces.
On site works will cause disruption and prevent residents from accessing their homes A transport consultant is responsible for making sure there is a detailed plan which considers delivery times and working hours.  This plan will be shared with residents and developed during the build.
What has happened to the Eliot Bank site?   We have decided not to progress with              developing on the Eliot Bank site.
