Building for Lewisham
We are the Lewisham Council’s housing company and responsible for the delivery of its ambitious social home building programme. Building for Lewisham will deliver much needed social homes for residents most in need of housing.
Why are we building new homes?
Housing is in short supply across Lewisham and creating new council homes is crucial to addressing the growing pressure on Lewisham Council’s waiting list.
Some 2,300 Lewisham families are currently living in temporary accommodation, of which over 700 people stay in nightly paid accommodation. Building new homes means we are able to help families move out of temporary and emergency housing into a home of their own.
Where are we building new homes?
We built the first new council owned housing in Lewisham for nearly thirty years at Mercator Road, Lee in Spring 2015, and are continuing to build new properties in the borough. To see where we are building and considering new homes, see the New Homes Map.
