In July 2012, Lewisham Council launched the ‘New Homes, Better Places’ programme to progress options for the development of new homes across the borough. We are the Council’s Development Agent and responsible for the delivery of this exciting programme.
Where are our new homes?
To see where we are building and considering new homes, see our New Homes Map. You can click on each of the different areas to find out more about each development.
Why are we building new homes?
Housing is in short supply across Lewisham and creating new council homes is crucial to addressing the growing pressure on Lewisham Council’s waiting list. Our agreed target is to start delivering the majority of the Mayor of Lewisham’s promised 500 new council homes by 2018.
Different housing for different needs
We are providing different types of housing to meet the diverse needs of local residents. This includes homes for social rent and for sale, and specialist homes for older people. All surpluses from homes which are sold will be reinvested into building more affordable homes across the borough.
Developing new homes
We’re not just building new homes, we’re also converting empty spaces, such as old offices, into places for local people to live.
