We have been granted planning permission to build six new council homes adjacent to flats 1-27, 39 Brockley Grove, about 300 meters from Crofton Park Station.
We plan to build six 3 storey houses with windows which project vertically from the roof, often referred to as dormer windows, so that they are in keeping with the Victorian houses which already stand along Marnock Road.
We also want to make improvements to the public space close to the new homes to make sure the buildings fit well with the surrounding area.
|Project stage||Planning permission granted|
|Number of new homes||6|
|Start on site||Autumn 2020|
|Work estimated to complete||Autumn 2021|
|Contractor||To be confirmed|
|Number of homes for social rent||6|
|Number of homes for sale||0|
Before we were granted planning permission, we spent time listening to what local people had to say about our proposals.

There are too many houses in the space
|We’ve reduced the number of homes we plan to build from seven to six. This allows for more space between the existing flats and the new homes and means we can keep more green space.|
|We don’t want to lose our parking provisions||Our designs include 12 parking spaces. We will work with people who rent garages here to provide alternative garage space elsewhere.|
|We’re concerned about privacy||The new homes will be built 18 meters away from the existing homes.|
|We think all of the new properties should be council homes||All of the homes we want to build on Marnock Road will now be council homes.|
