This development will deliver new homes to a site replacing the Mayfield hostel on Burnt Ash Hill, next to Our Lady of Lourdes Church.
Planning permission had been granted on a proposal but following review it has been decided that the scheme should be redesigned allowing more efficient use of the site. A new planning application is being developed with input from the local community.
If new homes are built here, any residents temporarily housed in Mayfield hostel will be moved into alternative accommodation.

Resident consultation
We have made a few changes to our design based on feedback from the local community. This includes the height of the rear buildings, the amount of trees we would need to remove and the opportunity for more play space.

The rear building will overlook gardens on Pitfold Road.
| We have reduced the height of the rear building to two stories and increased its distance from the boundary wall that backs on to Pitfold Road.
|
We are losing too many trees.
| We have reduced the size of the development. This means we will need to remove less trees should the development go ahead. |
We don’t like the colours of the buildings.
| We are considering colours which are more in keeping with the surrounding buildings. |
Where will people park if no spaces are provided as part of the development? | We are looking at ways we can support future residents to use alternative means of transport. Public transport links here are good and local shops are only a few minutes walk away. We are also having discussions with car clubs about the possibility of including a car park space within the development. |
Is modular construction best?
| We have monitored and compared costs of modular build with traditional building methods. We are confident that modular build causes less disruption to local people and is a more cost effective way to build new homes.
|
There needs to be more play facilities. | We are working with our architects to include more play space into our designs. |
All upcoming resident consultation events about our new homes can be viewed on our events calendar.
