As part of our commitment to help our residents gain the skills they need to access employment, we’re working in partnership with Dynamic Client Solutions (DCS) to offer training opportunities to gain a range of NCFE Level 2 Qualifications.
You must be:
- a Lewisham Homes resident;
- at least 19 years old; and
- unemployed or earning less than £15,736.50 per year
If you do not fit the eligibility criteria you will not be able to attend the course.
Pre-assessments for all courses are required.
Assessments will be taking place on Thursday 11 April in the reception area of the Old Town Hall, Catford, SE6 4RU at the following times:
10am – 11.30am – Certificate in Creating a Business Start Up Assessment
12pm – 1.30pm – Certificate in Business Administration Assessment
2pm – 3.30pm – Certificate in Event Planning Assessment

What’s on offer?
All courses will take place at Lewisham Homes, Old Town Hall, Catford, SE6 4RU.
Certificate in Event Planning (QCF)
Dates: 7th, 10th, 14th, 17th, 21st, 24th, and 28th and 31st May from 10am – 3pm
Learners will find out about planning events for different sectors and look at the duties of the Event Planner/Coordinator. Learners will produce event and contingency plans and learn about security and health and safety requirements at planned events. They will learn how to evaluate events, explore evaluation tools and will produce evaluation plans. Learners will explore initial market research, investigate marketing methods and resources, and produce marketing plans for events as well as considering management requirements and necessary personnel for events. The importance of communication, equality of opportunity and customer service in event planning are major themes that are covered during the course.
Certificate in Creating a Business Start-Up
Dates: 3rd, 6th, 10th, 13th, 17th, 20th, 24th & 27th June from 10am – 3pm
This qualification will:
- focus on the study of starting a business
- support learners in creating a business plan.
The objective of this qualification is to:
- gain an understanding of the steps of creating and developing a business start-up
- develop an awareness of business skills
- increase self-awareness and aid personal development.
Certificate in Principles of Business Administration (VRQ)
Dates: 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th June from 10am – 3pm
This programme is ideal for people working or looking to work in Business Administration. It provides the opportunity to gain a formal qualification looking at the principles behind business administration. The programme is delivered in a blended learning format with workshops and workbook to complete. This qualification provides learners with the knowledge that is required to work in a range of environments in a business administration role. Learners will know how to carry out administrative tasks such as managing information and supporting events and will be able to apply their knowledge in a variety of industries and job roles.
