We’re pleased to share that we’ve teamed up with the Orchard Project – a national charity dedicated to the creation, restoration and celebration of community orchards – who recently began planting a community orchard at the Honor Oak Estate.
Although the beginning of the project was originally planned to take place as part of a community planting day, the trees have to be planted in January. Therefore a small group from the Orchard Project joined our community relations team and helped plant eight of the 16 trees planned for the area.
The community orchard is funded by the Mayor of London’s Greener City Fund which our community relations team successfully bid for last year. We hope that the remainder of the orchard will be planted by March, following on from which the Orchard Project will provide educational sessions about the plot throughout the year.
