In response to the Covid-19 lockdown in March 2020, all non-essential works were suspended to protect the health and wellbeing of residents and staff. Any outstanding works deemed an emergency were completed or made safe following social distancing guidelines.
During the lockdown, we provide 24-hour security based at Hatfield Close and Gerrard House, and scaffold inspections continued.
The Lewisham Homes caretaking team increased cleaning efforts to ensure touch points were kept clean, with extra attention given to high use areas to help prevent the spread of Covid-19.
The Lewisham Homes community relations team offered support to residents who were self-isolating or finding the challenging time difficult – this included food deliveries and offering someone to talk to. Emergency phone numbers were also available to report urgent repairs or suspicious activity.
As works were remobilised in June, extra precautions were taken such as introducing new hygiene procedures, regular temperature checks for staff, strict social distancing measures, correct PPE usage and more, as part of our duty to keep residents and staff safe. Lewisham Homes produced a simple video explaining the measures, which was shared with residents and on social media [see below].
