Success for Lewisham Homes’ first Migration Museum Fun Day

8 February 2022

Last year the Migration Museum successfully bid for some funding from the Lewisham Homes Community Investment Fund and recently hosted its first Lewisham Homes Family Fun Day.

Running from 2pm-5pm on Saturday 29 January 2022, the event was extensively promoted to residents with letters, texts and emails going out to those who lived nearby. Several blocks also had posters put up in communal spaces to ensure as many residents as possible were aware.

It seems the promotion worked! Almost 500 people visited the Migration Museum on the day.

The event was free of charge and families were given personalised tours of the museum’s exhibits, as well as the opportunity to join a self-portrait workshop provided by local artist James Lenton. Lots of Lewisham Homes residents attended, with the museum’s activity tables constantly full of children and their families getting creative.

This won’t be the last event the Migration Museum puts on for Lewisham Homes residents, so keep your eyes peeled for future announcements in the coming months.
