Widespread test and trace systems are important to help us return to familiar daily routines, as the government slowly lifts lockdown measures. Testing identifies people with the virus, and contact tracing is about getting in touch with whoever has been in close contact with a person who has tested positive. The process ensures that individuals can be supported and the wider community protected.
A new team is being assembled within Lewisham Council to provide support to the government’s contact tracing programme. This team will have an important role in handling any virus outbreaks that might occur in the borough.
Everyone should watch out for symptoms. You can apply for a test via www.nhs.uk/coronavirus or by calling 119 as soon as symptoms develop and self-isolate, following the government guidelines.
