On Friday 27 March, The Pepys Social Supermarket launched at the 2000 Community Action Centre on Pepys Estate.
The Social Supermarket was launched by the 2000 Community Action Centre Committee with help from Lewisham Homes, Travis Perkins and London Catalyst alongside.
The Social Supermarket, which uses surplus supermarket food from national charity Fareshare, is currently feeding 30 low income households from the Pepys estate, with the possibility to expand help more families
The store is run by volunteers from the area, and each family using the store can get up to £30 worth of shopping for just £3.50 a week.
