Residents of the recently completed Wise Court housing development in Lee had a chance to meet their new neighbours at a welcome event held in a nearby playground on Saturday 25 May.
It was an opportunity for residents to get settled and engaged in their new community. Lewisham Homes and Lewisham Council staff were on hand to offer advice on training, benefits and more, as well as take questions and suggestions from the new residents, while children enjoyed a bouncy castle and face painting.
Cllr Paul Bell, Cabinet Member for Housing, and Blackheath ward councillors Kevin Bonavia and Juliet Campbell were also at the event to welcome the new residents.
Cllr Bell said: “It’s fantastic to see local people moving into their new council homes, particularly as many have waited a long time for this. I hope all the new residents at Wise Court enjoy many happy years living here.
“There is still much to do to tackle the housing crisis and we will continue to work hard to deliver as many social homes as we can.”
The new development comprises 24 homes, made up of six maisonettes and 18 flats. You can read more about Wise Court and our other forthcoming developments on our New Homes page here. Keep an eye out next month for the next edition of Home magazine, which features an interview with some new residents of the development, plus much more.
