Your experience as a resident is valuable to us, and we’re always looking for people who are interested in helping to shape and influence the future of our services.
By joining our Resident Scrutiny Committee, you will work as part of a team with other residents to give us an independent view of how Lewisham Homes is performing, and provide feedback on how our services can be improved for our residents.
This is a great opportunity to enhance both your personal and professional skills, gain valuable experience to support your career development, and make a difference in the way Lewisham Homes is led.
What does the role involve?
Our Resident Scrutiny Committee members help keep Lewisham Homes focused on delivering excellent services by providing an independent view of our processes and performance, highlighting what works well and what needs improving. As part of the role, you will make evidence-based recommendations for service improvements to our Board, help identify ways to ensure we achieve the best possible value for money, and shape and influence the delivery of our services to increase satisfaction amongst our residents.
The areas to be scrutinised are put forward by residents and decided by the committee.
If you have lots to say about how we can better our online services, or full of ideas on what more we could be doing to support our communities, we’d love to hear from you.
How much time/commitment will you need to give?
We appreciate your lives are busy. You can dedicate as little or as much time you’re able to.
What skills do you need?
No previous experience is needed, but we are looking for enthusiastic people who can express their views effectively, challenge constructively, and understand and analyse information. You will also need to be able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
What support or training will be available?
You will receive support from the Community Relations Team and an independent Mentor, as well as ongoing training to help you to achieve your potential. You also have the option to gain an accredited qualification delivered by tenant engagement experts at the Tenant Participation Advisory Service (TPAS).
What benefits/pay are offered?
As well as having a real opportunity to influence and shape Lewisham Homes’ services and gain in-depth insight into our work, there are a number of great benefits to being part of the Resident Scrutiny Committee. From gaining an accredited qualification to learning new skills and boosting your CV, being a member of the Committee can really help enhance both your personal and professional development.
The role is voluntary so our members are not currently paid. However, reasonable expenses, such as the cost of transport to and from meetings, or childminding and other support costs, will be reimbursed.
