Paying your rent

Lewisham Homes collects rent on behalf of Lewisham Council. Your rent is used to fund many of the services we provide.

This page provides information on the ways you can pay your rent and how to check the balance of your account.

If you are struggling to pay your rent, your Income Officer or Welfare Benefits Advisor will be able to help you.

Ways to pay your rent

Please have your 10 digit account number to hand when making a payment. It is printed on all of your rent statements.


Go through to Lewisham Council’s secure payments website.

If you don’t have internet access at home, there are lots of places across Lewisham where you can get online for free.

In person

Pay by card or cash with a rent payment card at any PayPoint (local stores and garages where you see the PayPoint sign) or Post Office. You can order a rent payment card online.

Over the phone 

You can pay by debit or credit card over the telephone by calling our 24 hour automated payment service on 020 8690 8707.

You can also pay your rent over the phone with us by calling our freephone number 0800 028 2 028.

Set up a direct debit or standing order

You can set up regular bank payments by direct debit or standing order. To do this over the phone, please call us on 0800 028 2 028, and have your bank details to hand.

Direct Debit form

Once completed, return the direct debit form to Lewisham Homes. Alternatively, you can complete the online form.

Standing Order form

Once completed, please take the standing order form directly to your bank.

Remember, if your rent amount changes it is your responsibility to update your payments with your bank.

Internet banking

You can also set up direct debits and standing orders or make one-off payments through your bank’s website. You just need our details:

Please include your 10 digit rent reference number.

Check your balance

You can view transactions and download a copy of your rent statement on My Lewisham Homes.

You can check your balance by text. Just Text BAL or BALANCE followed by a space and your account reference to 07535 412412

For example, ‘BAL 1234567890’

To use this service, we must have your correct mobile number on our system, you can update it on My Lewisham Homes or by phoning us.

Texts will be charged at your standard message rate.
