Garages on an estate

If you are interested in renting a garage to store personal Items or a motor vehicle, please complete our application form and we will contact you when a garage becomes available.

There are a limited number of garages available to rent and so we suggest you choose as many areas as possible to increase your chances. Due to high demand for garages,  you may be on a waiting list for some time. Because of this, we are currently only accepting applications from people living in the borough of Lewisham

The cost to rent is dependent on the location of the garage. You will be notified of the rent once a garage is assigned to you or you can contact the Garage team for more information.

Blue badge holders are able to rent garages at half the standard rate.

Who is eligible?

Anyone can apply as long as you live in the London Borough of Lewisham.

We can not offer a garage to you if you have any housing related debts. If you do fall into rent arrears you won’t be able to continue renting a garage.

How do I apply?

Please complete the online application form.

What areas do you have garages in?

We manage garages throughout Lewisham but we can not rent out specific garages on request. When completing your application, you will be asked to choose in which post code you’d like to rent a garage from a list we provide.

How do I pay to rent a garage?

We only accept payment via Direct Debit or a standing order, with one month’s rent in advance.

If you are unable to pay the rent charge for your garage, it is important that you contact us straight away.

Please also tell us of any changes to your contact details in case we need to contact you about your garage.

I’ve been served a Notice To Quit (NTQ) what does this mean?

You will have received a NTQ if you are in four weeks rent arrears for your garage. After 14 days of receiving the NTQ, if your arrears are not cleared, the garage locks will be changed and the garage will be repossessed. Should this happen you will need to pay a fee of £70 and re-sign for the garage.

My garage has been broken into, what do I need to do?

Contact the Police to obtain a Crime Reference Number or a CAD number.  Then, contact our Repairs team with this information so that they can carry out any necessary repairs.

Terminating your garage licence

Please give us one week’s advance notice in writing by completing our Garage Vacation Form. You must submit this paper form because we cannot accept emails requests to end your garage licence.

We ask you to make sure that all items from your garage are removed and that it is left clean.  Any costs incurred by Lewisham Homes for clearing or cleaning the garage will be recharged to you.

For repairs to your garage, please contact our Repairs team using My Lewisham Homes.

Email the Garage team for other garage related enquiries.
